I am Ami, a Hong Kong–based jewellery designer, born and raised in this city of resilience and quiet strength. I grew up during the golden era of Hong Kong’s garment industry, watching my mother work with fabrics and form. From her, I learned that true craftsmanship carries both discipline and heart — that what we create should hold meaning.

My path, however, began in numbers. I studied accountancy, spent time in Denmark and Japan as an exchange student, and worked for seven years in the finance industry. It was a life of structure and certainty — stable, logical, secure.

Yet deep within, I felt a longing for something more expressive. More alive.

In 2018, I took a three‑month break in New Zealand. In the quietness of nature and solitude, I began handcrafting jewellery. What started as a simple act of making slowly became a form of awakening. Through creating with my hands, I rediscovered my voice — one that speaks through symbolism, faith, and story.

Jewellery, to me, is never merely adornment. It is something worn close to the skin, close to the soul. A reminder. A whisper of belief. A reflection of love lived daily.

Choosing to leave banking and step into design was my personal act of deror — freedom to follow the calling placed in my heart. In 2020, amidst uncertainty, I founded Deror Jewellery. It was not the safest path, but it was the truest one.

Influenced by Scandinavian minimalism and shaped by Hong Kong’s modern energy, my designs are contemporary yet rooted in sacred symbolism. I draw inspiration from faith, nature, and the beauty of human connection — translating invisible stories into forms that can be worn and lived into.
